Gallup man nabbed for stalking ex-wife
Staff Report
GALLUP A 49-year-old Gallup man was arrested on Thursday
for reportedly stalking his ex-wife following an appearance in court concerning
a restraining order.
At 4:23 p.m., Sharlene Martinez flagged down a Gallup police officer in
the Albertson's parking lot. According to a police report, Martinez said
her ex-boyfriend followed her into the Mustang Central gas station, stared
her down and yelled at her.
The incident followed a court date involving the pair in district court.
The officer located Robert Martinez driving a red truck behind California
Market on Aztec Street. Robert Martinez reportedly told the officer Sharlene
Martinez's boyfriend approached him and punched one of his vehicle's windows.
After examining the vehicle, officers found no hand marks or any indication
that the window had been damaged.
District Attorney Karl Gillson arrived at the location and reportedly
told officers that Robert Martinez recently had a restraining order filed
against him. Gillson authorized Robert Martinez's arrest on charges of
aggravated stalking and restraining order violation.
Martinez's vehicle was towed and taken into evidence at the Gallup Police
Department.
