Joe T. "Litte Joe" Salazar
GALLUP Funeral services for Joe T. "Little Joe" Salazar,
64, will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8 at Rollie Mortuary Palm Chapel.
Rev. Clyde Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial
Park.
Salazar was employed with the Southern Pacific Railroad, Santa Fe Railroad,
R & R Glass Company and was self-employed as a handyman. His hobbies
included fishing, hunting, and singing.
Survivors include his father, Rev. Adrian Harper of Bosque Farms, N.M.;
mothers, DeLila Harper of Bosque Farms, N.M. and Julia Salazar of Santa
Rosa, N.M.; daughters, Kimberly Salazar of Odgen, Utah, Theresa Salazar
of Santa Rosa, N.M.; sisters, Connie Lucero, Josie Salazar, Lucy Salazar
all of Santa Rosa, N.M., Lynn Davis of Bosque Farms, N.M., Darlene Logan
of Belen, N.M., Lucille Lucero of Albuquerque N.M., Frances Salazar
of W.V.; brothers, Steven Harper, Alex Rosales, Dennis Rosales, Gilbert
Rosales, Robert Rosales, Tony Rosales all of Gallup, Rudy Harper of
Seatlle, Wash., Johnny Moss of Bosque Farms, N.M., Bennie Salazar, Lawrence
Salazar both of Tucumcari, N.M., Billy Salazea of Reiling, Calif., Joe
Nick Salazar of Albuquerque, Junior Salazar of Santa Rosa, N.M.; one
grandchild.
Salazar was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Salazar; father,
Presiliano Salazar; sisters, Norma Moss and Linda Salazar.
Pallbearers will be Bo Harper, Bryan Harper, Derek Harper, Phillip Nelson,
Alex Rosales, Dennis Rosales, Robert Rosales and Tony Rosales.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Evelyn Tso
GANADO Funeral services for Evelyn Bennett Tso, 85, will be
at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Ganado Presbyterian Church. Norma
McCabe will officiate. Burial will follow at the Community Cemetery,
Ganado, Ariz.
Tso died on Jan. 3, in Tucson, Ariz. She was born on March 24, 1919
in Ganado, Ariz., into the Tangle Clan and for the Water's Edge Clan.
Survivors include sons, Edward Paul Tso of St. Michaels, Ariz., Jasper
Tso of Chinle, Ariz., Paul Tso, Jr. and Harold Zhealy Tso of Ganado,
Ariz.; daughters, Mary A. Benally of Shiprock, N.M., Harriet L. Mike
of Kirtland, N.M., Evangeline Tso of Kayenta, Ariz., Rae A. Platero
of Farmington, N.M.; sisters, Phoebe Henderson, Marie B. Curley, Margaret
Mego all of Ganado, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Tso was preceded in death by brother, John Mego (aka Hatathle Nez);
uncle, Alvin Kirk; daughter, Christine K. Tso; grandson, Jeffery Tso.
Pallbearers will be Edmund Tso, Winston Tso, Adrian Mike, Alex Crossland,
Justin Platero and Max Benally, Jr.
The family will receive relatives and friends at 5:00 p.m. Jan. 5 and
6 at the Ganado Senior Citizen center, located next to the Ganado Chapter
House .
Nellie Tsosie
LOWER GREASEWOOD Services for Nellie Tsosie, 97, were at 10
a.m., Friday, Jan. 7 at the Faith Mission. Sharon Torbett will officiate.
Burial followed in the Lower Greasewood Cemetery.
Tsosie died Dec. 31 in Holbrook, Ariz. She was born March 10, 1907 in
Steamboat, Ariz., into the Mexican People Clan for the One Who Walks
Around People Clan.
Tsosie was a rancher and homemaker. Survivors include her son Raymond
B. Tsosie; daughters, Ella Cayentinto, Helen Tsosie and Pearl Perry,
all of Albuquerque, Emma Johnson of Holbrook, Ariz., Katie Lyman of
Sunrise, Ariz., and Ruth Jensen of Dilkon, Ariz.
Tsosie is preceded in death by her husband, John Tsosie.
Pallbearers were Erik Johnson, Jayne Maestas, Mark Salvador, Curtis
Bitsie, Ronnie Phelps and Shawn Billie.
The family received friends and relatives at the Lower Greasewood Chapter
House after services.
Tse Bonito Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Albert L. Williams
FORT WINGATE Funeral services for Albert L. Williams, 89, will
be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Mary Mother of Mankind, St. Michaels,
Ariz. Father Gilbert Schneider will officiate. Burial will be in a family
plot in Steamboat, Ariz.
Williams died Jan. 4 in Gallup. He was born Jan. 22, 1916 in Steamboat,
Ariz. into the Big Water People Clan for the Red Running into the Water
People Clan.
Williams graduated from Fort Wingate in 1930. He was a WWII Veteran
and served with the 450th Bombardment Squadron and the 322nd Bombardment
Group. He worked for the Bureau of Indian affairs for 40 years and was
a member of the original planners of the establishment of AICA. His
hobbies included raising horses, raising cattle, and watching NFL football
games.
Survivors include his wife, Francine C. Williams of Fort Defiance; son,
Doug L. Williams of Gallup; sisters, Julian Willie and Edith Willie
both of Steamboat, Ariz.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Williams was preceded in death by his sons, Kim L. Williams and Scott
L. Williams; parents, Lewis and Maggie Williams; brother, Paul Williams,
Kenneth Williams, and Alfred Williams.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Julia Williams'
residence.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangments.
Tom Sonny Atencio
STANDING ROCK Funeral services for Tom Sonny Atencio, 58, will
be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8 at Cope Memorial Chapel. Pastor Charley
Grey will officiate. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery.
Atencio died Jan. 2 in Standing Rock, N.M. He was born Feb. 24, 1946
in Whitehorse Lake, N.M. into the Mexican People Clan for the Under
his Sleeves People Clan.
Atencio attended school until the 11th grade. He worked for the Union
Pacific Railroad and then became disable. He was a medicine man for
the Native American Church. His hobbies included beadwork and making
ceremonial fans.
Survivors include his daughter, Philamena Atencio of Standing Rock,
N.M.; brother, Nelson Sandoval of Whitehorse Lake, N.M.; sisters, Fannie
Sandoval of Torrean, N.M., Lili Lace of Cuba, N.M., Annie Yazzie and
Jessie Tsosie both of Whitehorse Lake, N.M.
Pallbearers will be Unaldo Mace, Florencio Mace, Robert Castillo, Don
Castillo, Orlando Sandoval and Micheal Yazzie.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Betty Betone's Church
immediately following the services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Madeline Miller
GRANTS Funeral services for Mary Madeline Miller, 82, will be
announced at a later date.
Miller died Jan. 6 in Grants. She was born March, 13 1922 in Baltimore,
Md.
Compassion Mortuary of Grants is in charge of arrangements.
