Ernest Ernie Sanchez

TUCSON, Ariz. — Memorial services for Ernest Ernie Sanchez, 47, will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 4 at Rollie Mortuary Palm Chapel. Private burial will be at a later date.

Sanchez died Dec. 25 in Tucson. He was born Oct. 4, 1957 in Gallup.

Sanchez graduated from Gallup High in 1978. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He enjoyed barbecues, church activities and collecting penguins. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine Sanchez of Tucson; sons, Steven Sanchez and Mark Sanchez both of Tucson; brothers, Robert Sanchez, Johnny Sanchez, Edward Olguin, all of Gallup; sisters, Evie Holder of Tucson, Patsy Valdenegro of Las Cruces, Louise Diaz, Kitty Olguin, Virgie Sanchez, Vivie Sanchez, and Irene Sanchez-Ornelas all of Gallup.

Sanchez was preceded in death by his father, Ignacio Nacho Sanchez and mother, Helen Sanchez.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Kee Bahe Draper Sr.

DEL MUERTO, Ariz. — Graveside services for Kee Bahe Draper Sr., 75, were at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 3 at the North Rim Bible Church. Rev. Jimmie Draper will officiate. Burial was in Del Muerto Community Cemetery.

Draper died Dec. 28 in Chinle, Ariz. He was born in Del Muerto, Ariz. into the One Who Walks Around You People Clan for the Water Flows Together People Clan.

Draper enjoyed hunting, fishing, bullriding, rodeos, and steer wrestling.

Survivors include his wife, Marie; sons, Calvin, Kee, Bobby, Harold, and Darrin; daughters, Linda, Julia, Marlo, and Madelyn; brothers, Bennie, Thomas, and Casey; sisters, Maggie, Betty, Elsie, and Nancy.

Draper was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Draper; father, Chee Draper; mother, Yecasdesbah Thompson Draper; brother, Woody Draper.

Pallbearers were Kee B. Draper Jr., Bobby Draper, Harold Draper, Dominique Draper, Marvin Draper, and Reggienald Clauschee.

The family will receive relatives and friends at 6 p.m. at the North Rim Bible Church.

Tse Bonito Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.


Leland H. Nez

GALLUP — Funeral services for Leland H. Nez, 85, were at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 3 at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. Father Cormac Antram, OFM officiated. Burial was in Kinlichee Community Cemetery.

Nez died Dec. 27 in Gallup. He was born Feb. 22, 1919 in Black Mountain, Ariz. into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Bead People Clan.

Nez was self-taught as a young man. He worked for the sawmill back when horses were used for dragging logs.

Survivors include his sons, Wilfred Nez of Crownpoint and Harry Nez of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Annie M. Chee of Gallup and Loretta J. Armijo of Albuquerque; father, T. Nez; mother, Ason T. Nez; brothers, Kee Nez and Kaswood Nez; sister, Fannie Bahe Nez; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Nez was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean Nez; sons, Nelson Nez, Herbert Nez, and Leon
ard Nez.

Pallbearers were Wilfred Nez, Melfred Nez, Raymond Klah Sr., Raymond Klah Jr., Leroy Bennett, and Ron Kauyedauty.

The family will meet following the services at Annie Chee's residence.

Cope Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
