Elta Shipley
COYOTE CANYON Funeral services for Elta Shipley, 72, will be
at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24 at Cope Memorial Chapel. Burial will
be in the Crownpoint community cemetery.
Shipley died Feb. 20 in Farmington. She was born Aug. 20, 1932 in Peach
Springs into the Black Streak Forest People Clan for the Tall House
People Clan.
Shipley attended Standing Rock Boarding School and was a self employed
rug weaver. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, weaving, traveling and visiting
relatives and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Ned Zuni of Pinedale; sons, Joe D. Joe,
Delray D. Joe, both of Coyote Canyon, Johnny D. Joe, Sr. of Beaumont,
Texas; Jefferson D. Joe, Sr. of Standing Rock; daughters, Jennie J.
Tsosie of Coyote Canyon, Juanita Jeff of Kayenta; 34 grandchildren and
22 great-grandchildren.
Shipley was preceded in death by his sons, Benny D. Joe, Jimmy D. Joe;
daughters, Joann D. Joe, Jean "Dee" Shipley; father, Guy Shipley;
mother, Akis Pah Sam; brother, Osborne Sam; and two grandsons.
Pallbearers will be Jefferson D. Joe, Sr., Erwin Joe, Walter Dahozy,
Johnny D. Joe, Jr., Don D. Tsosie and Al D. Tsosie.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Coyote Canyon Chapter
House.
Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.

RAMAH Funeral services are pending for Larson White, Sr., 43.
White, Sr. died Feb. 21 in Flagstaff. He was born Nov. 4, 1961 in Zuni
into the Mexican People Clan for the Meadow People Clan.
A family meeting will be held this evening at 6 p.m. at the Ramah Chapter
House.

GALLUP Funeral services are pending for Rebecca R. Anton, 59.
Anton died Feb. 21 in Gallup. She was born July 29, 1945 in Black Rock.

Edward M. Upshaw Sr.
SANDERS Funeral services are pending for Edward Mark Upshaw,
Sr., 58.
Upshaw, Sr. died Feb. 19 in Sanders. He was born March 5, 1946 in Sanders
into the Edge Water People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
