SAGEBRUSH Funeral services for Chester Emerson Jones, 61, will
be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 at Calvary Assembly of God, Yahtahey.
Pastor Danny Yazzie, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be on private land
in Sagebrush.
Jones died Feb. 16 in Gallup. He was born May 16, 1943 in Wildcat into
the Towering House People Clan for the Edge Water People Clan.
Jones attended Inter Mountain Indian School in Brigham City, Utah. He
graduated in 1963. He attended trade school to learn auto body in Denver.
He was employed with Navajo Shoping Center for 20 years and AC Houston
for 26 years. His hobbies included watching the Lakers and Cowboys play
and building houses.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae Jones of Yahtahey; daughters, Matilda
Jones of Tohlakai, Eleanor Olguin and Victoria Yazzie of Sagebrush;
stepdaughters , Jennie Gordon of Tohlakai, , Frieda Wilson, Geneva Wilson
and Priscilla Cadman, all of Gallup; stepsons, Jimmy Cadman, Lorenzo
Cadman, both of Tohlakai; brothers, Ernest Bill of Ogden, Utah, Thomas
C. Bill, Jonah Emerson Jones, both of Sagebrush; sisters, Marietta Denetclaw
of Albuquerque, Eleanore Jones of Sagebrush, Marita E. Katzenberger
of Rockville, Ind.; 26 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Jones was preceded in death by his father, Kee Emerson Jones; mother,
Margaret Y. Emerson and brother, Bruce Emerson Jones.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cadman, Lorenzo Cadman, Jonah Jones, Sr.,
Esidro Olguin, Anderson Cadman, Michael Dawes, and Leland Gorman.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Joanna Purley
WINDOW ROCK Funeral services for Joanna Lillian Purley, 72,
will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 at St. John the Evangelist, Houck.
Father Cormac O.F.M. will officiate. Burial will be in the Houck community
cemetery.
Purley died Feb. 14 in Fort Defiance. She was born April 30, 1932 in
Tohatchi into the Folded Arms People Clan for the Red Running into Water
People Clan.
Purley retired from St. Michaels special education after 30 years. She
was a lifelong resident of St. Michaels. Purley was a poetry instructor
at the time of her death. She enjoyed traveling, watching wrestling
and being with family.
Survivors include her daughters, Kimberly A. Lee, Regina Ann Purley,
both of St. Michaels, Paula M. Purley of Window Rock; son, Christopher
Purley of Window Rock; sisters, Dorothy Cipriano and Patricia G. Murphy,
both of Winslow, Ruby King of Boerne, Texas, Alice Murphy, Christine
Murphy, both of Querino Canyon, Florence Roldan of Window Rock; brothers,
Howard Murphy, Nathaniel Murphy, Robert Murphy, Thomas Murphy all of
Querino Canyon; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Purley was preceded in death by her father, Tom Murphy; mother, Flossie
Murphy; son, Ernest James Purley; brothers, Joseph Murphy and Mervyn
Murphy.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Barker, Jr., Joseph Cipriano, Calvert H.
Curley, David George, Kevin D. Lee, and Christopher Purley.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Henry Whitehair
TOHATCHI Funeral services for Henry Whitehair, 86, will be at
11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 at the Alameda Mortuary, Albuquerque. Burial
will be in the Veterans Cemetery, Santa Fe.
Whitehair died Feb. 14 in Albuquerque. He was born Aug. 25, 1918 in
Keams Canyon into the Towering House People Clan for the Bitter Water
People Clan.
Whitehair attended Phoenix Indian School from 1935 to 1940. He was in
the US Army and was a WWII Veteran. He worked as a court clerk, patrolman,
office interpreter, file clerk, court bailiff, tribal advocate, tribal
judge for the Navajo tribe. He enjoyed reading, collecting newspapers,
watching football and basketball, and telling stories.
Survivors include his wife, Isabelle Marie Whitehair; sons, Leroy Whitehair
of Window Rock, Vincent Moreno, Sr. of Pueblo Colo.; daughters, Annabelle
Whitehair, Cathy Herrera, both of Gallup, Henrietta Ceja, Marian Salina,
both of Chicago, Lisa Ann Higgins of W.Va., Patricia Gomez of Albuquerque;
25 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Whitehair was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, two sons;
and both grandparents.
Pallbearers will be Antone Fowler, Miguel Fowler, Roberto Yazzie, Manuel
Herrera, Jr., Henry Whitehair, Jr., Benson Pete and Damien Tso.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Antone and Michelle
Fowler's residence after services.
Angela L. Dixson
DILKON Funeral services for Angela Lee Dixson, 36, will be at
10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 at the Jesus Bighn Mission. Rev. Robert Briceland
will officiate. Burial will be in the Dilkon Community Cemetery.
Dixson died Feb. 12 in Dilkon. She was born Dec. 17, 1968 in Phoenix.
Survivors include husband, Jefferson Dixson; sons, Ian Dixson, Uriah
Dixson; daughters, Adrienne Lee, Tachisna Dixson; parents, Luther and
Gertie Lee; brothers, Brian Lee, Luther Lee, Jr.; sisters, Pamela Chase,
and Kristin Lee.
Pallbearers will be Jason Dixson, Jeffery Dixson, Travis Lee Fuller,
Chester Johnson, Charlie Sam, Jr., Michael Sam, Kenneth Joey and Shannon
Lee.
Richard Dooline
FORT DEFIANCE Funeral services for Richard Dooline, 50, will
be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 at the Good Sheperd Mission. Father
Jim Leelan will officiate. Burial will be in the Fort Defiance Cemetery.
Dooline died Feb. 14. He was born May 1, 1954 in Fort Defiance into
the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
Dooline attended Window Rock Elem. He was a plumber and construction
worker. Dooline enjoyed riding horses and playing the guitar with the
Arizona Dreamers.
Survivors include his wife, Yolanda Dooline of Sawmill; sons, Eugene
of Phoenix, Romero, Kintaro, Montero of Sawmill; daughters, Regina,
Shawna of Phoenix, Estelle, Ricarda of Sawmill; brothers, Henry Dooline
of Blackrock; sisters, Nellie Blackgoat of Fort Defiance, Virginia White,
Christina House of Blue Canyon, Elma Lewis of Casa Grande.
Dooline was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Eva Dooline;
brothers, Edward and Leo Dooline.
Pallbearers will be family members.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fort Defiance Chapter
House.
Tse Bonito is in charge of arrangements.
Emma J. Charley
GRANTS Services for Emma Jean Charley, 43, will be announced
at a later date.
Charley died Feb. 15 in Grants. She was born Aug. 4, 1961 in Crownpoint.
Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Ann M. Meese
ALBUQUERQUE Services for Ann M. Meese, 94, will be announced
at a later date.
Meese died Feb. 16 in Albuquerque. She was born Nov. 21, 1910 in Cerrillos.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
