PREWITT Funeral services for Mary Ann Curley, 55, will be at
10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at the Thoreau Church of God. Pastor Rholinda
Cook will officiate. Burial will be in a family cemetery in Prewitt.
Curley died Feb 10 in Albuquerque. She was born April 29, 1949 in Prewitt
into the Towering House People Clan for the Tangle People Clan.
Survivors include her mother, Pearl Bah Tapaha of Prewitt; son, John
Jake, Jr. of Prewitt; daughter, Pearlynn Jean Martinez of Prewitt; sisters,
Sandra Adams, Ruthann Begay, Rita Ann Yazzie, all of Prewitt, Bernice
Manning of Canoncito, Corrina Smiley of Sanostee; brothers, James Curley
of Albuquerque, Nelson Curley of Prewitt and 10 grandchildren.
Curley was preceded in death by her father, James Frances Curley; sisters,
Eunice Curley, Marian Curley, Gloria Curley-Smiley, Barbara Delgarito
and brother, Jason Curley.
Pallbearers will be Marco Apachito, Jones Delgarito, Jameson James,
Frazier Kee, Gene Manning, Jr., and Alfred Tapaha.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Eddie Jones
BORREGO PASS Funeral services for Eddie C. Jones, 79, will be
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at the Assembly of God, Crownpoint.
Jimmy R. Largo will officiate. Burial will be in the family cemetery
in Borrego Pass.
Jones died Feb. 11 in Albuquerque. He was born Nov. 11, 1925 in Bluewater
into the Zia Hairy One People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.
Jones attended Shiprock Boarding School. He was a WWII veteran, serving
in the Pacific in the US Navy. Jones retired from the Santa Fe Railroad
and was a rancher. He was president of the Little Water Chapter Veterans
and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and watching boxing, rodeo and
wrestling. Survivors include his wife, Emma P. Jones of Borrego Pass;
sons, Edward Jones of Thoreau, Eddy Jones, Jr. of Borrego Pass, Harrison
Jones of Crownpoint; daughters, Erma Jones-Hardy of Crownpoint, Lora
J. Platero of Borrego Pass; stepchildren, Harry Nez of Provo, Utah,
Tom Nez of Belen, N.M. and Mary Lee Begay of Casamero Lake; brother,
Frank B. Jones, Jr of Albuquerque; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Chischillie Jones;
son, Lambert Jones; daughters, Ella Mae Gambler; brother, Paddy Jones,
Sr. and sister, Alice Charley.
Pallbearers will be Eddy Jones, Jr., Edward Jones, Harrison Jones, Tom
Nez, Ryan Hardy and Aldo Jones.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Eddie C. Jones residence.
Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
Timmy C. DeVore
CROWNPOINT Funeral services for Timmy C. DeVore, 58, will be
at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at the Crownpoint Christian Reformed
Church. Burial will be on family land in Crownpoint.
DeVore died Feb. 13 in Crownpoint. He was born Aug. 26, 1946 in Crownpoint
into the Water Flows Together People Clan for the Tangle People Clan.
DeVore was active in rodeo as a bronc rider and enjoyed ranching, horses
and cattle. He attended trade school for auto body, carpet and floor
tile.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah DeVore of Crownpoint; daughters, Verna
Wolff of Crownpoint, Leandra DeVore of Albuquerque; son, Karman DeVore
of Crownpoint; father, Harry C. DeVore of Crownpoint; mother, Mary Desiderio
of Haystack; brother, Johnny C. DeVore of Casamero Lake; sisters, Cecelia
Zospah, Vonda DeVore both of Crownpoint; five grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
DeVore was preceded in death by his sister, Etta Mae Smith.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Compassion Mortuary of Grants is in charge of arrangements.
Lewis A. Hubbard
NAZLINI Funeral services for Lewis Allison Hubbard, 72, will
be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at the Presbyterian Church, Ganado.
Nelson Betoney will officate. Burial will be on family land in Nazlini.
Hubbard died Feb. 12 in Albuquerque. He was born Jan. 24, 1933 in Nazlini
into the Red Streak Running into the Water People Clan.
Hubbard attended Ganado Mission and Fort Lewis College, College of Ganado
and Northern Arizona University. He enjoyed the outdoors, sports, traveling
and ranching.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Hubbard; daughters, Lorrisa Hubbard,
Andrea Hubbard; brothers, Earl Hubbard, Tommy Hubbard; sisters, Louise
Dedman, Darlene VanWinkle and five grandhchildren.
Hubbard was preceded in death by his father, George Kee Hubbard; mother,
Yinasba Shirley Hubbard and brother, Leonard Hubbard.
Pallbearers will be Ernest VanWinkle, Aaron Mitchell, Issac Mitchell,
Delford Van, Tyson Van, Raymond VanWinkle.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Nazlini Chapter.
Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
Henry Chee, Sr.
BLACK MOUNTIAN Funeral services for Henry Chee, Sr., 42, will
be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17 at the Black Mountian Mission Church.
Pastor John Charley will officiate. Burial will be in the Black Mountian
Community Cemetery.
Chee, Sr. died Feb. 12 in Tucson. He was born Sept. 13, 1962 in Blue
Gap into the Salt People Clan for the Near Water People Clan.
He attended Many Farms High School. He was a part time roofer and enjoyed
riding horses, and spending time with children.
Survivors include his two sons; five daughters; mother, Minnie Chee;
brothers, James Chee of Chinle, Jimmie Chee of Mariano Lake; sisters,
Lena Todachine, Shirley A. Yazzie, both of Blue Gap.
Chee, Sr. was preceded in death by his father, Ben Chee, brothers, Jones
Chee and Donald M. Chee.
Pallbearers will be James Chee, Anthony J. Chee, David Yazzie, Jimmie
Chee, Lucas Chee, Delroy Yazzie.
A reception will be held at Lena Todachine's residence 2 and one-half
miles from Blue Gap Chapter House.
Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Correction
In the obitituary which ran in the, Feb. 9, edition, Marie Curley, was
survived by her sister, Phoebe Henderson; 27 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Curley.
