Syleesha T. Yannett
SANDERS Funeral services for Syleesha Tyra Yannett, 4 months,
will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11 at the Church of the Nazarene.
Pastor Henry Chase will officiate. Burial will be in the New Lands Cemetery.
Yannett died Feb. 5 in Gallup. She was born Sept. 21, 2004 in Gallup
into the Red Streak People Clan for the Saltwater People Clan.
Survivors include her father, Kevin Yannett of Houck; mother, Latanya
Yazzie of Sanders; grandparents, Helen Johnson of Querino Housing, Sherry
Yazzie of Sanders, Virgil Yazzie of Fort Defiance and Donald Yannett,
Sr. of Suttons Bay, Mich.
Pallbearers will be Edward Yannett and Evan Yazzie.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Emanuel J. Trujillo
MILAN Funeral services for Emanuel Joshua Trujillo, 19, will
be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11 at the Temple of Peace. Pastor Garland
Morre will officiate. Burial will follow in the Grants Memorial Park.
A Celebration of Life service will be held this evening, Feb. 10 at
7 p.m. at the Temple of Peace.
Trujillo died Feb. 8 in Grants. He was born Sept. 12, 1985 in Gallup.
Survivors include his mother, Louisa Rael of Milan; father, Manuel Trujillo
of Grants; sisters, Alicia Trujillo of Milan, Rene Sims of Fla., Nicole
Rael, Alicia Rael both of Albuquerque; grandparents, Manuel and Margaret
Trujillo of Magdalena, Henry Casias of Rainsville, Alicia Casias of
San Rafael and great-grandmother, Dorothy Baca of Socorro.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Casias, Thomas Lovato, Jeremy Rael, Jonathan
Esparza, Bradley Duran and Rueben DeHerrera.
Compassion Mortuary of Grants, is in charge of arrangements.
Frances Denetdeel
FORT DEFIANCE Funeral services for Frances B. Denetdeel, 86,
will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11 at the Good Shepherd Mission.
The Rev. Jim Leehan will officiate. Burial will be in the Fort Defiance
Veterans Cemetery.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Denetdeel died Feb. 6 in Fort Defiance. She was born Feb. 18, 1918 in
Old Coalmine into the Red Bottom People Clan for the Red Running into
Water People Clan.
Denetdeel worked as a cook with the Good Shepherd Mission, Avalon Restaurant,
Henry's Corner, Fort Defiance Canteen; house keeper with Log Cabin Lodge;
foster grand parent for Fort Defiance Elementary School and Little Miss
Muffet Child Care. She was a master rug weaver, served as Color Guard
for the Blue Eagles Song and Dance Group, entered parades with Code
Talkers and enjoyed tending to her livestock and was well-known for
puberty cakes.
Survivors include her sons, Boyd Denetdeel of Mesa, Robby Denetdeel,
Sr. of Farmington, Stan Denetdeel of Chinle, Ray Denetdeel of Sandia
Pueblo; daughters, Janet Lewis, Sue Longhurst, Bertha Denetdeel, Anita
Denetdeel of Fort Defiance, Priscilla DePaul of Phoenix; sisters, Helen
Billie of Old Coalmine, Annie Johnson of Bells Gardens, Calif.; brothers,
John Billie, Henry Billie both of Fort Defiance; 23 grandchildren, 38
great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Denetdeel was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Rose Billie;
husband, Morris B. Denetdeel and sister, Mary Billie.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Denetdeel, Duane Denetdeel, Dwindle
Denetdeel, Robby Denetdeel, Jr., William Longhurst and Jefferson Plummer.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fort Defiance Community
Chapter House following services.
Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
Victoria Bia Shirley
SAWMILL Funeral services for Victoria Bia Shirley, 35, were
at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 7 at the St. Michaels Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints. Bishop Graham officiated. Burial was on a family
plot.
Shirley died Feb. 2 in Sawmill. She was born May 11, 1969 in Fort Defiance
into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Near Water People Clan.
Shirley was a graduate of Cedar City High School. She worked as a certified
nursing assistant. Shirley was a member of the Indian placement program
and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church.
Survivors include her husband, Vincent Shirley; brother, Leland Bia;
sisters, Christine Bia, and Juanita Bia.
Shirley was preceded in death by Sherry, Wallace Bia Jr.,Walter, Nathaniel
and Virgil.
Pallbearers will be Dean Bryant, Ben Bia, Jr., Chipper Mangum, Lorenzo
Bia, Francis Nez and Donald Tsosie.
