GALLUP — A Gamerco couple was killed Saturday night when the trailer they where towing disconnected and caused their truck to flip multiple times.

Daniel Roanhorse, 53, and Grace Roanhorse, 51, were towing a flat-bed trailer westbound along Interstate 40 with their 2004 Ford F-250 pick-up truck when the vehicle began to fishtail near Mile Marker 25 at about 11:15 p.m., New Mexico State Police spokesman Jimmy Glascock, said.

Daniel Roanhorse was reportedly in the process of passing another vehicle and was unable to regain control of the truck that swerved onto the roadway's shoulder and flipped multiple times.

One of the individuals, who was not wearing at seatbelt at the time of the accident, was thrown from the vehicle, Glascock said. Both Daniel Roanhorse and Grace Roanhorse were pronounced dead at the scene.

Glascock said the accident is under investigation and it is not known whether speed contributed to the accident. However, alcohol was not a factor, he said.

"It sounds like the driver just lost control of the vehicle from what is being said," Glascock said.

Both the New Mexico State Police and McKinley County Sheriff's Department responded to the accident.
