Deaths
Irene John
GANADO Ariz. Services for Irene John, 104, will be at 2 p.m.
today, April 23, at the All Saints Mission in Ganado. Father Flann will
officiate. Burial will follow in Kinlichee Cemetery. Visitation will
be held one hour before services at All Saints Mission.
John died April 20 in Ganado. She was born Oct. 31, 1902 in Cross Canyon
into the Honeycomb Rock People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
John lived in the Kinlichee Chapter. She enjoyed making quilts, weaving
rugs and saddle blankets, traveling, riding in electric carts in stores
and cooking traditional foods such as kneel-down bread.
Survivors include her son, Carlos John Sr.; daughters, Rose Shorty,
Bertha Barney and Connie Mego; brothers, Edward and Joseph Begaye; sister,
Elsie Yazzie, 27 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren and 71 great-great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by her husband, James John; son, Methias
John; daughters Consuella, Dolores James, and Ester John; brothers,
Boneface Tsinnijinnie, San Juan Joe, Elmer Begay, Willie Begay; sisters,
Sarah Smith and Agnes Curley.
Pallbearers will be Calton Jon, Carlos John Jr., Jefferson Shorty, Delbert,
Darrell and Ronald John
Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Otis Burns
MILAN Services for Otis A. Burns, 78, will be announced at a
later date. Burns died on April 21 in Los Lunas, N.M. He was born Jan.
26, 1927 in Kansas.
Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
