Up in Smoke: Gallup firefighters respond to a vehicle fire late
Friday morning on U.S. 66 in the city's west end. GFD Lt. Thomas Silva
said the Dodge van's owner, Tim Sneddy of Gallup, was eastbound on U.S.
66 when he noticed the van's engine was sputtering. He pulled off the
road to check the vehicle, and resumed travel. Sneddy told officials that
he noticed more problems with the vehicle and again pulled over. This
time, he noticed fire coming from the engine compartment. U.S. 66 was
temporarily closed as firefighters secured the scene. No injuries were
reported and the cause of the fire remains unders investigation. [Photo
