Latasha Freeland

GALLUP — Police are seeking information concerning the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl from Gallup Indian Medical Center on Friday afternoon.

Latasha Freeland has not been seen by family members since she left one of the hospital's examination rooms to go to the restroom.

Freeland's guardian, Laverna Moore, said she accompanied Freeland to the hospital for follow-up visit following some lab work at about 5 p.m. on Friday.

"She went to use the restroom and never came back," Moore said.

Moore said she filed missing persons reports with the Gallup Police Department, the McKinley County Sheriff's Department and the Crownpoint division of the Navajo Police Department.

Law enforcement checked the location that Moore routinely visits, but found no signs of Freeland.

Moore also said Freeland has been diagnosed with a serious illness that requires immediate treatment.

"We believe she is in the Gallup area," Moore said.

Freeland may have traveled to nearby communities within the Navajo Reservation to look for her family members. Freeland is 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs about 150 pounds and now has shoulder-length, light brown, highlighted hair. Anyone with information regarding Freeland's whereabouts, is asked to called Moore at (505) 722-7264 or the Gallup Police Department at 863-9365.
