GALLUP A 28-year-old Gallup man was arrested for reportedly threatening
his wife and her brother with a handgun.
Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Kevin Drive regarding a domestic
dispute between Lionald Miller and Normanda Miller that involved a handgun.
When police arrived at the apartment complex, they reportedly found Lionald
Miller standing behind Normanda Miller with a gun in his hand.
According to a police report, officers ordered Miller to put the gun down
repeatedly and he refused until Lionald Miller took the gun from his hand
and threw it on the ground. Lionald Miller then punched his brother-in-law
Brandon Yazzie in the face.
Police officers handcuffed Lionald Miller for their safety and conducted
interviews with Normanda Miller and Yazzie.
According to the pair, an argument between Normanda Miller and Lionald
Miller erupted inside one of the apartment's bedroom. Normanda Miller
said her husband accused her of cheating on him and said she was an unfit
mother. When Yazzie intervened, Lionald Miller reportedly pointed the
gun at him and Normanda Miller.
According to reports, Lionald Miller said he tried to leave the home,
but that Normanda Miller would not allow him to.
Miller was arrested on an outstanding warrant and was charged with aggravated
assault against a household member, negligent use of a deadly weapon,
battery against a household member and possession of marijuana.
During a search at the Gallup-McKinley Adult Detention Center, officials
found a pipe with a green leafy substance inside that was determined to
be marijuana on Lionald Miller.
