Bennie Notah, Sr.
FORT DEFIANCE Funeral services for Bennie Notah, Sr., 81, were
today, at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 5 at the Navajo Bible Church. Pastor
Dean Baker officiated. Burial was in the Fort Defiance Community Cemetery.
Notah, Sr. died April 1 in Gallup. He was born April 23, 1923 in Naschitti
into the Towering House People Clan for the Ute People Clan.
Survivors include his wife, Jean G. Notah of Fort Defiance; sons, Jay
Notah of Fort Defiance, Bennie Notah, Jr. of Naschitti, Michael Notah
of St. Michaels; daughter, Brenda Notah-Yazzie of Window Rock, Connie
Ashley of Window Rock; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Notah was preceded in death by her brothers, Noah Notah, Henry Notah,
James Notah, Leonard Notah, Sr., Peter Notah and sister, Gertrude Becenti.
Pallbearers will be Allen Yazzie, Don Williams, Norvin Notah, Gerald
Notah, Kyle Anderson and Michael Warren.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fort Defiance Chapter
House.
Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Roy Davis Sr.
GALLUP Funeral services for Roy L. Davis, Sr., 78, will be at
2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6 at the First Baptist Church. Pastor Jay
McCollum will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held today, Tuesday, April 5 from 1-7 p.m. at Rollie
Mortuary Palm Chapel.
Davis, Sr. died April 3 in Gallup. He was born Nov. 1, 1926 in Pitcher,
Okla.
Davis, Sr. was a member of the Gallup Lion's Club, BPOE Elks Lodge,
and Masonic Lodge. He was active in the First Baptist Church. Davis,
Sr. served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He worked in refining
industry for 28 years and retired from Ciniza-Giant Refinery in 1989
and enjoyed bowling, camping, boating, carpentry and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Davis of Gallup; sons, Fred Davis, Jeff
E. Davis, Roy Davis, Jr. all of Gallup; daughter, Deloris Lopez of Grants;
sister, Luella Davis of Kans.
Davis, Sr. was preceded in death by his father, Jeff Davis; mother,
Daisy Davis; first wife, Josephine Davis and one granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Fred Davis, Jeff Davis, Mike Davis, Nick Davis,
Roy L. Davis, Jr. and Randy Olive, Jr.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Duane Berryhill
GRANTS Funeral services for Duane Berryhill, 86, will be at
11 a.m. on Thursday, April 7 at the First Baptist Church. Dedication
of the grave and burial will follow at Pioneer Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6 at Grants
Mortuary.
Berryhill died April 3 in Grants. He was born April 9, 1918 in Tatum,
N.M.
Berryhill, formally of Texas moved to a ranch in Baca. He served in
the US Army during WWII in Burma, India. He married in 1946 and built
a home with his wife in Bluewater. Berryhill was a founder of the Bi-County
Fair and a member of the Grants/Milan Elks Lodge. He served on the board
of Directors of the Continental Divide Electric Corp. and the New Mexico
Cattle Growers Assoc.
Survivors include his daughters, Ina May Hoffman of Grants, Nelda Rae
McPhaul of Pie Town, Glenda Kae Bybee of Wyo. Duana Gay Hopper of Hobbs;
son, Wallace J. Berryhill of Grants; sister, Edna Titjen of Ramah; 12
grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Berryhill was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Alexander Berryhill
and Annie May Berryhill; wife, Nelda Elkins Berryhill; brother, Adrian
Berryhill; sisters, Velma Wilcoxon and Thelma Berryhill.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Hoffman, Scott Hoffman, Brandon Hoffman, Ace
McPhaul, R.P. Hopper, Chae Bybee and Frank Bybee.
