Alice House

SMITH LAKE — Funeral services for Alice House, 97, will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 30 at the Thoreau Baptist Church. Rev. Bobby Martinez will officiate. Burial will follow at the Floyd Lawrence Jr. Memorial Cemetery, Smith Lake. A visitation was held at Cope Memorial from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday June 27.

House died June 24 in Grants. She was born July 10, 1906 in Standing Rock into the Water Flows Together People Clan for the Charcoal Streak People Clan.

She was a homemaker, rug weaver, rancher, and silversmith. House also enjoyed watching football games and television shows. She enjoyed going to church and revivals.

Survivors include her sons, Wayne Arviso of Fort Wingate, Leo House Jr., and Harry House Sr., both of Smith Lake, Benjamin House of Continental Divide; daughters, Laura Chaco, Lorraine Barboan , Mary House, Dourthe House all of Smith Lake, Pauline Brooks of Window Rock, Annie Sorrell of Fort Defiance; brothers, Raymond Arviso of Crownpoint, Frank Arviso, Paul Arviso both of Muholland Well, Herman Arviso of Fort Wingate; sister, Rose Freeland of Muholland Well; 38 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

House was preceded in death by her husband, Leo House Sr.; daughters, Polly House, Christine House; sons, Alexander House, Tommy House, Alfred House; mother Anna Jones; sisters, Lorraine Bates, Mary Becenti, Christine Becenti, Dorothy Bowman and brother, Jack Arviso.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Lawrence, Aaron Sorrell, Micheal Barboan, Gary Brooks, Gary Barboan and Herschel Harrison.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Smith Lake Chapter House.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.


Paul E. Sanchez

GRANTS — Memorial mass for Paul E. Sanchez, 61, will be Wednesday, June 30 at 10 a.m. with Father Matthew Keller officiating. Burial will be at the Grants Memorial Park.

A rosary will be recited today at 7 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Sanchez died June 27 in Grants. He was born March 31, 1943 in Wagon Mound.

Sanchez was a member of the U.S. Marines and he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He attended Cristo Rey Seminary and was ordained to the Deaconate in 1975. He was assigned to St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Grants. Sanchez also worked as a miner, a correctional officer and a salesperson for Galles Chevrolet.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Sanchez of Grants; daughters, Maria Sanchez, Jessica Sanchez, Sarah Sanchez all of Albuquerque; sons, Paul Sanchez, Micheal Sanchez, Ben Sanchez all of Albuquerque, John Sanchez of Peoria, Ill.; sisters, Theresa Cordova, Doris Larkin, Grace Garcia, Pauline Webb; and seven grandchildren.

Sanchez was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jenny Sanchez.


Frances Muskratt

GALLUP — Services for Frances Muskratt, 71, of Gallup are pending and will be announced at a later date.

Muskratt died June 26 in Albuquerque. She was born February 9, 1932 in Bennington Okla.


Gabriel Aragon Sr.

RIO RANCHO — Services for Gabriel Aragon Sr., 48, of Rio Rancho are pending and will be announced at a later date.

Aragon died June 27 in El Paso, Texas. He was born July 6, 1955 in Gallup.

Rollie Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
