Home schooling statistics

Statistics for these areas and statewide are available for the past 10 years, ending with the 2002-2003 school year. Numbers for the 2003-2004 school year are not yet available from the Alternative education Unit of the New Mexico Department of Education.

In Grants in 1993-1994, there were 33 students home schooled; Gallup had 104 and statewide there were 4,038.

Numbers go up in most cases, in some years they decline slightly, with Grants having the most students home schooled in its school district within the past 10 years in 1999-2000, with 64. Gallup had 164 the same year, also the most during the past 10 years. Statewide that year, there were 6,732, again the most in the state during the past 10 years.
