GALLUP — McKinley County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested three area men after an undercover cocaine buy at a local motel Friday night.

Deputies were working another case just before midnight Friday, and this case led them to a room at the El Capitan Motel, 1300 E. Highway 66, where a deputy made an undercover purchase of cocaine. The officers then confiscated more than a quarter ounce of cocaine and more than an ounce of Psilocybin mushrooms, according to a press release from the sheriff's department.

The confiscation and buy led the officers to arrest Norman Benally, 19, of Brimhall, and then to the home of Jeriad Benton-Benally, 25, of Mesa Avenue in Gallup. Officers charged Norman Benally with trafficking cocaine, conspiracy to traffic cocaine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, all felonies, according to the press release.

Officers arrested Benton-Benally and charged him with conspiracy to traffic cocaine, according to the press release.

More information wasn't available on the details of the arrest as it was part of an undercover operation.
