WINDOW ROCK — Although he violated the Ethics in Government Law, the grazing officer of the Mexican Springs Chapter won’t have to pay $360 he accepted for attending planning meetings, the Ethics and Rules Committee of the Navajo Nation Council decided Tuesday.

Timothy Bitsilly also will have to take training in both the Local Governance Act and ethics and will be a public reprimand, all within six months...

Explosives team deactivates remaining shells

FORT WINGATE, N.M. (AP) — A state police explosives team deactivated a batch of ammunition at Fort Wingate Army Depot after two people were injured, one critically, when a 105 mm cannon shell exploded.

Georgina Horting, 25, of Zuni, suffered abdominal injuries in the accident Monday and was transferred to University Hospital in Albuquerque. She remained in critical condition Tuesday...
